SPOOPY BUS

This is actually pissing me off. It has begun to ruin halloween for me knowing people don’t spell check. Things are massed produced in factories and sent out for sale to the public spelt spoopy, doo, and creppy. Like what the actual fuck. My computer even automatically changes spoopy to spooky. I mean, come on. The best holiday season and businesses don’t even care enough about it to spell check the items they’re gonna sell. Fuck this shit.

come on buddy wheres your smngfiehp cheer

I just tried to say “SMNGFIEHP” out loud and I snorted.

I know this blog is usually more lighthearted than this, but my local animal shelter, the MSPCA, recently took in 427 birds from a SINGLE home in the area, and they all need help finding new homes.  The MSPCA is now housing a total of 501 birds of all kinds (finches, pigeons, quail, chickens, ducks, geese, parrots, parakeets, and more.)
If any of your followers are looking to adopt a bird in Eastern Massachusetts, I hope they will consider adopting from or donating to the MSPCA at Nevin’s Farm to help cover the cost of care for these many birds.
Hello everyone, just boosting the signal on this to help out the birbs….Pass it on!!

SOMEBODY LOVE THESE BIRDS.

If the only thing you consider when getting a bird is this..

Then get a stuffed animal instead.

It takes years of trust, companionship, proper diet, large housing, training, and bonding before your bird would even consider letting you touch him.  If you don’t do your research the smallest of birds will become aggressive, pluck, and develop serious health issues.  Small beaks bite hard, do the right thing and do your research first.

This is my Juju. I got him when I was 13, when I didn’t know about how pet stores get their birds. When he was 10 years old, he developed testicular cancer. His beak grew faster than he could keep up with, his cere turned brown, and he spent most of his day sleeping. I took him to my avian vet, who started him on lupron treatments. For 8 months went every month for the treatments, and every two weeks to trim his beak.
Someone asked “Why? You can get another one from PetCo for $15.”
Why? Because this living creature did not choose to come live in my home. He didn’t choose to be the product of irresponsible breeding for profit. He didn’t choose to be the descendent of birds caught and removed from their wild home.
Because I and other humans made those choices for him, it’s our responsibility to provide the best care and life possible. And this tiny bird had a huge soul and gave so much affection in return.
By the way, the treatments worked. The cancer disappeared and he lived for another three happy, active, chirp-filled years.
